DAWN SERVICE – Tewantin RSL

Subject to change closer to event depending on weather/participant numbers

  • Length: approx 13km
  • Time: 4 to 5 hrs
  • Terrain: Footpaths.  Some road crossings.  Generally flat terrain.
  • Pace: Brisk walk.
  • Fitness Level: A moderate level of fitness is required to complete this trek.
  • Experience: You do not need to have previous hiking experience to join in.
  • Expectations: This will be moderately challenging as we walk across 13 km, primarily along flat footpaths. Walking for 4-5 hours during a time when you’re typically asleep presents its own unique challenges, but we move with purpose, embodying the ANZAC Spirit by sacrificing a night’s sleep for a memorable experience. Some sections of the track will only be illuminated by your head torch, adding to the adventure. While it may be cold during our breaks, you’ll find warmth as we keep moving. Please dress in layers to stay comfortable. Remember to wear covered shoes, such as runners or hiking shoes—no crocs or thongs, please. Additionally, keep in mind that shops will not be open along the way, so be sure to bring your hydration and snacks. We will take 2-3 breaks for restrooms and to refuel our bodies. Prepare for a challenging yet rewarding journey.Group photo: Will be taken at the end of the trek, prior to the Dawn service.Dawn Service: Tewantin RSL commencing at 0530

It is COMPULSORY to bring a head torch/flashlight, enclosed footwear that’s suitable for hiking the distance, weather proof jacket, snacks, minimum 2L of water and a mobile device.

Some participants will decide to challenge themselves further by trekking with weighted packs and vests, webbing and/or carry torsion bars. We strongly encourage you to read our “Fitness Considerations” section to gain insight if this is an appropriate decision for yourself.

Trek4Vets advise all participants not to drive post the trek and to arrange alternative transport home.

Thank you for your support.
